Adding custom sound chips to your packaging project. 7/30/10

We often hear about adding spot coatings, using unique substrates, and riveting all sorts of accessories to make a custom packaging project look extra special. But have you ever thought of actually making the box talk?

With custom sound chips, you can have pre-recorded messages playing as soon as the end-user opens the box. Now, this isn't exactly new technology, but it is evolving. The chips are getting smaller, and easier to conceal. You can actually break down the sequence even further and have the chip activated when the end-user lifts a certain piece of product or literature.

There's even variable data sound chip technology, that allows you to personalize each chip to say the end users name and talk about specific benefits of whatever you're selling.

The price is a little on the high-end, but it's not as expensive as it used to be. The pricing fluctuates with quantity, length of recording, variable data, and the difficulty of installing each chip in the box.

It obviously adds a great deal of impact so it's worth presenting to the "powers that be."
